Running Final Fantasy VIII PC on Windows 7 64bit

Locate your registry entry, for me it was not in the location of that guide above.

Windows 7 64bit location is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Square Soft, Inc\FINAL FANTASY VIII\1.00

Right click on your 1.00 folder and export it before modifying anything.
You could modify the .reg text file with a text editor and then just merge it, or do as the above guide says and directly edit the registry.

Fixes:

1. There was a crash on Disc 2, after the player defeats "Balamb Garden
Master NORG", if they then go to the library and talk to the girl with
pigtails, the game would crash to desktop. --Addressed and Fixed.

2. There were complaints about an error message popping up after the
players installed FF8. On the patch there is a new EAX file.

3. There was a menu bug in which Square QA found while testing the patch.
When the player receives the "Pet Pals Vol. 1", on the train to Timber, at
this point the player has not yet met Rinoa nor her dog Angelo. In the
magazine there is a reference to "Angelo Strike". The bug was due to the
fact that the player had not met Rinoa yet and so instead of the magazine
reading "Angelo Strike" it read "No MEM CA". --Addressed and fixed.

4. There was a crash issue when the player had Direct X 7.0 installed and
tried to play the game with the Yamaha Software Synth. Whenever the player
would finish a battle the game would crash to desktop. --Addressed and Fixed.

*Note* The file needed to correct this issue is available in a separate download.

5. There were multiple complaints about the Nvidia GeForce having texel problems.
--Addressed and Fixed.

*NOTE* GeForce users should make sure the downloaded the correct patch. It is named "FF8SqeaNVPatch.zip". Non-GeForce owners should download the patch named "FF8SqeaPatch.zip".

6. The player's cards for the card game, in some instances, would disappear. --Addressed and Fixed on patch v1.2

7. In some cases after a battle, where all the player's party members are killed, the game will crash at the 'Game Over' screen. --Addressed and Fixed on latest patch v1.2

Patch Installation:
-------------------

The patch is in .zip format*, extract all files directly into the Final Fantasy VIII directory (default: "C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\FINAL FANTASY VIII"). Be sure that ALL files are copied over, otherwise the patch will not work properly. The files are:

binkw32.dll
EAXUnified.exe
FF8.exe

When asked if you want to overwrite existing files, click on "YES" or "YES TO ALL". After the old files are overwritten the patch is finished installing.

After extracting all files to the game directory, double-click on the file named "EAXUnified.exe" to install the EAX.dll file to your C:\Windows\System folder. This will fix the error message regarding the missing EAX.dll file. This step is not necessary unless you are encountering the "Missing EAX.dll Error".

* In order to extract a .zip file, a zip extraction utility must be used. There are many such programs available on the Internet to download.

Convert .GME PS1 saves to .PSV

How to convert PS1 saves to PS3 format.

What you will need:
1. MemcardRex v1.4+ ( http://shendo.xtemu.com/memcardrex.html )
2. A PS1 Memory Card
3. A PS1 Memory Card Reader (USB) for the PS3
4. Some type of USB Mass Storage (Flashdrive, PSP etc.)
5. A PS3 with 2 free USB slots
And likely the hardest part:
6. A way to transfer data to a PS1 Memory Card (DexDrive, PS2's uLaunchELF etc.)

Summary of how to:
1. Open the PS1 formatted save/card with MemcardRex.
2. Export a raw single save to your USB storage.
3. Use uLaunchELF to transfer the save from USB to the actual PS1 Memory Card.
4. Use the PS3 and Memory Card Reader to copy the card to the Hard Drive.

5. Now you can enter your newly created Internal Memory Card and copy the save to the USB storage.

Debug Functions:

GLB Time Bar: Press Select on a screen (start, main, etc) to toggle it on or off. When active, press R2 to make Mort cluck. The clucking effect is controlled by the "Play Sound" option in the debug menu. You need to press R2 to play the sounds.

Level Select: Pause the game and select the "Tally" option. Then, go to the "Level Select" option. This option is available by default, but all levels will be unlocked now.

In the Sega Genesis game Jennifer Capriati Tennis aka Grand Slam Tennis there is a Japanese Debug Menu in the game. I have translated 80% of the menu and uploaded the ROM. In the emulator Fusion, you need to go to "Options-> Set Config...-> Genesis-> AutoFix Checksums" for the game to boot.

In the Sega Genesis game Jammit, there is no "A" in the password input screen. I noticed that in the ROM's hex there were 3 passwords of AAAAAAA. I modified the A's to something imputable and uploaded the ROM. I can confirm that 2 of the 3 hidden passwords in fact do something.

More Info:
I used my GameShark Pro to search around a little bit and found 2 hidden options.

The first one, was the ability to save. Normally, you cannot save or load up a game in the debug room.

The second is a hidden 'get weapons' activator. It's not that good though, the main difference between the hidden one and the visible one is that the hidden one does not unlock 'Tune up' and 'Dist. BP'.
